Permission (for you AND me) to sell.

Let’s talk about how much easier it is to sell other people’s stuff than my own. Maybe you can relate…

For some reason, it comes more naturally and joyfully for me to talk about all the amazing services and programs and offers OTHER people create. (Ahem, see: the entire premise of my podcast as a platform to raise up other women in business.)

My business-bestie-turned-close-friend reflected this hangup back to me one day, saying, “You’re naturally really good at pulling out the interesting and good parts in people/businesses/offerings, so it makes sense that you’re good at selling other people’s stuff.” (That’s basically what brand messaging strategy boils down to, after all.)

On the surface, it seems like I’m less emotionally invested when it’s not my stuff. Like it’s purely a generous act. Like there’s less at stake for me—nothing to lose in spreading the word.

Even though, when I really think about it, that’s not true.

I’m genuinely excited for other people to make sales and realize their visions, which means I am emotionally invested. (Hence why my Founder Friends section of my newsletter is one of my favorite parts to write!)

And while it is generous to share about other people’s stuff, it’s also generous to share about mine. Because if I really believe I can fix a problem, fill a gap, or validate someone, then it’s both kind and helpful to talk about my offers.

And of course, my reputation is still at stake by spreading the word about other people’s services.

So, why am I so eager to talk about everyone else’s offers and so hesitant to talk about mine? It’s a mindset shift that’s a work in progress. (Yes, there’s my theme of the year popping up again.)

As I get more comfortable owning the entire sales process, I’m gonna start sending sales emails. (Eek! But always with the option to unsubscribe or to ONLY opt-in to newsletters.) I’m gonna start doing outreach to leadership teams. (Because I’ve been LOVING getting Founders and CEOs on the same values-aligned page as their people.) And I’m gonna actively ask for referrals. (Because I know some really amazing people who know lots of OTHER amazing people.)

And hopefully you’ll step more into selling too.

Here’s your permission slip to spread the word about everything you’re excited about, whether you created it or someone else did.

Here’s your word of encouragement to make—and spend—as much values-aligned money as possible. Because the more money we can generate as conscious and caring business owners, the more positive impact we can also generate.

And in the spirit of selling, I have a new way of working together that I’m so excited about.

It’s called Monthly Messaging Mentorship. It’s 1 month of asynchronous access to my brain (so that we can both run our businesses while also managing our daily lives). We can cover everything from a single-word tweak in your IG bio to revamping your entire homepage to pitching your dream podcasts.

It’s awesome because:

  • There’s no need to schedule anything or pack all your ideas into a single call.
  • You only need to show up when you have something on your mind, and you can ping me right when it pops into your head, rather than waiting for a set date and time to take action or get feedback.
  • You’ll have a tiny bit of pressure to implement within the month, while still keeping plenty of time and space to reflect, experiment, outsource, etc.

Psst: This month-long mentorship fits in perfectly after a 1-hour Quick Win Consulting Call (to really get the momentum going) and before OR after a Messages That Matter VIP Day to gear up for or act on your values-aligned brand messaging strategy.

With that, here’s to more selling this year. For you, and for me.
