Hi! I’m Ashlee.

Your values-aligned brand messaging strategist, consultant, & collaborator

Here for empathetic accountability as you take confident, meaningful action toward your vision.

Equipping deep-thinking, deeply caring business owners, social entrepreneurs, and nonprofit leaders

Share your vision and your impact in a way that feels good

It can be hard to talk about what you do and why it matters. To translate everything in your head and heart for the people you want to reach. To stand out without sticking out.

With tested frameworks, active listening, and a dash of je ne sais quoi, I distill your vision and values into messages that resonate.

Because you deserve to get visible on your own terms. It’s your business—what you want to be known for?

A Values-Driven Approach To Business

The founders I collaborate with come from a range of industries I never imagined being part of. (Ethical fashion, feminist finance education, and Congress, oh my!)

The common thread is our shared values.

Conscientiousness

Bringing empathy and awareness to my life and work

Contribution

Feeling connected to something bigger than myself

Exploration

Creating space to experiment and staying open to different perspectives

Integrity

Living out my values and practicing what I preach

Intentionality

Taking and encouraging confident, meaningful action

AN UNCONVENTIONAL START

I found my way to marketing and communications via an not-exactly-common mix of Anthropology, Linguistics, and French at Washington University in St. Louis. (All of which influence my current work, believe it or not.)

Before launching my business full-time in 2019, I worked with nonprofits, including a law school alumni department, an international headquarters of a human rights education NGO, and a county branch of Habitat for Humanity.

FREELANCER TURNED FOUNDER

I freelanced on the side for years, not knowing at the time that I was preparing for entrepreneurship.

In my personal life, I was going down the rabbit hole of conscious consumerism. That led me to the concept of business for good. Along the way, I discovered values-aligned brand messaging and marketing strategy.

And I’ve never looked back.

I’ve since worked with 100+ businesses on everything from brand development and media list building to content creation and copywriting, always with values and audience-driven messaging at the core.

What ASHLEE SANG CONSULTING Is all about

My goal is to have vicarious impact. By equipping visionaries to clarify and amplify their message, they’re able to grow their revenue and their impact. Which means I’m part of movements that matter.

Just like my clients, my business is an outlet to spark change through deep connections. And I love that through consulting, I don’t have to dedicate all my energy to a single cause at a single organization.

(Raise your hand if you’re a multi-passionate cause champion too!)

HOW I WORK WITH VISIONARIES

I offer conscious marketing strategy based on YOU, your values, and your people. (Not whatever “best practice” Google tells you to do.)

This means you grow as part of an industry and economy that funds—and feels—good, rather than contributing to the status quo. That’s the magic of purpose-driven, values-aligned, do-it-on-my-own-terms business.

I was a proud business member of 1% for the Planet for many years, but I’ve since pivoted my focus to pouring directly back into thoughtful leaders (like you!) and their visions via a scholarship fund. Anyone is eligible to apply—check out all the details here.

Let’s get personal

I’m a fan of one-liners, happy surprises, and finding ways to make the world around me a little bit better.

Currently based in Bloomington, Illinois, I’m [mostly] Midwestern, with a penchant for travel. My longest stint abroad was four years in Dakar, Senegal. (I have plenty of stories if you’re curious…)

I have a toddler girl and baby boy who keep me laughing, exhausted, and always on my toes.

Offline interests

Languages have always fascinated me. (As a kid, I dreamt of becoming a lexicographer if that tells you anything.) I speak French fairly fluently, but with a Senegalese-American accent that wouldn’t fool a Parisian for a second. My Spanish is rusty and basic at best, but something I hope to improve one day. And I know survival Wolof (the dominant language in Senegal)—enough to tackle the market, barter a taxi ride, and get bossed around the house and teased by my in-laws.

When I’m not behind a computer screen, I can be found planning my next vacation adventure, binge watching anything funny, cooking something healthy but delicious, doing yoga, and playing volleyball. (Indoor volleyball, please-and-thank-you.)

One of my favorite pastimes is walking around wherever I am, discovering hidden nooks, and documenting traces of beauty that catch my eye. ✨

Past Collaborators

“Kicking off our client’s rebranding project with Ashlee’s Brand Messaging VIP Day was the BEST first step. It truly allowed us to set the foundation and tone for the success of the project. She kept our session extremely focused, but there was also space for brainstorming new ideas and experimentation. The best part was, her messaging document is something that our studio and the client continue to reference for social media captions, email newsletters or whenever copy is needed for a new campaign.”
