I’m so excited to chat with Podcast Manager & Founder Rosa Sarmento of Ideablossoms. She and I are big fans of collaborating, both with each other and with others. And she takes it to a whole other level by working with a team and building out a full agency.

This episode gives you a glimpse into Rosa’s brain (like all our interview episodes do!), but it also shows a behind-the-scenes look at how she’s scaled and shifted her business through thoughtful, values-aligned collaboration.

This is an unedited transcript and the timestamps don’t match exactly with the final audio. Thanks for your understanding!

00:00:00.219 –> 00:00:03.219
Okay, record on this computer, please. Alright.

00:00:03.119 –> 00:00:11.119
Okay, Rosa, I’m so excited for this. I want to do it sort of in 2 parts.

00:00:07.520 –> 00:00:29.520
One, to have a bit more context about you so that our listeners really know where you’re coming from as we move on, one to have a bit more context about you so that our listeners really know where you’re coming from as we move on with our listeners really know where you’re coming from as we move on with our conversation and really know where you’re coming from as we move on with our conversation and so that they can get to know you the human behind the

00:00:09.119 –> 00:00:11.119
Thank you.

00:00:28.019 –> 00:00:33.019
brand. And then we’ll dive into this concept of collaboration. So first and foremost, the question I ask all my guests.

00:00:34.368 –> 00:00:38.368
What’s your personality type from any framework that resonates with you?

00:00:36.769 –> 00:00:45.769
Well, I know I am a projector and an ana Graham type 6. The loyal guardian if I’m not wrong.

00:00:44.818 –> 00:00:46.818
Okay.

00:00:46.369 –> 00:00:53.369
But don’t ask me too many questions because I am not well first in any of those.

00:00:51.319 –> 00:01:00.319
Yeah, I can see I can see the loyal guardian and I can see that at in like your leadership style, from what I know of it.

00:00:57.668 –> 00:01:05.668
So that’s really cool. And you’re an introvert too as well, right?

00:01:00.718 –> 00:01:08.718
Hmm. Okay. Yeah, hands to protect her.

00:01:06.219 –> 00:01:17.219
Interesting. So what is your current trajectory, your vision for your life and your business?

00:01:14.869 –> 00:01:23.869
I know it’s changed a lot. I know when we’re currently recording you’re in Argentina right now and you won’t be there forever.

00:01:22.870 –> 00:01:24.870
Yeah.

00:01:23.469 –> 00:01:26.469
So yeah, what’s your trajectory? What’s your vision?

00:01:25.018 –> 00:01:39.018
Well, the whole business started from this deep desire of freedom. Location freedom, time freedom. And also freedom to do something I enjoyed instead of just something to make money.

00:01:38.519 –> 00:01:48.519
So yeah, freedom’s big for me. And luckily now I am in this position where I have the time freedom and the location freedom.

00:01:46.168 –> 00:01:55.168
My husband also does. He’s also working remotely. So whenever we can, we try to like, you know, go somewhere.

00:01:54.119 –> 00:02:00.119
We haven’t been before or we try to visit family. I’m from Brazil, he’s from the US, we live in Mexico.

00:02:00.419 –> 00:02:09.419
So there is quite a few visits to the families. Twice a year or so. So we are constantly moving around, but we love it.

00:02:05.368 –> 00:02:18.368
Like we both met in Santiago Chile. We wore like he was an expert. I was traveling so you can see the pattern there.

00:02:16.968 –> 00:02:36.968
Oh, that’s so cool. And I feel you on the visiting family front. I feel like when you have multinational family or like households, all of your vacation unless you’re really able to bake it into your lifestyle like you have all of your vacation is just visiting the country of Oregon or like settlement.

00:02:35.021 –> 00:02:37.021
Yeah.

00:02:36.119 –> 00:02:47.119
So like for me, for my husband’s family, we either go to France or Senegal because that’s where his family is and then you know maybe we make it out to Oregon where my extended family is.

00:02:43.819 –> 00:02:56.819
But yeah, I feel you on the the family vacation equals all of your travel time.

00:02:48.368 –> 00:02:50.368
Yeah.

00:02:52.968 –> 00:03:00.968
Pretty much. Yeah, like luckily we can like extend the vacation a little bit and maybe hop somewhere else.

00:02:59.269 –> 00:03:06.269
That’s what we try to do since we are already, you know. Doing this and buying tickets, why not?

00:03:05.918 –> 00:03:10.918
So that’s what we’re trying to do, but it is a challenge. It’s not that easy.

00:03:06.468 –> 00:03:08.468
Yeah.

00:03:09.518 –> 00:03:22.518
Yeah, and so lovely that your lifestyle and business are able to accommodate each other. That’s the power of having a team also, which we’ll touch on later.

00:03:16.318 –> 00:03:31.318
And, and clients who get it and get you and I mean this has been a very intentional build, right?

00:03:22.619 –> 00:03:24.619
For sure.

00:03:29.070 –> 00:03:38.070
This did not magically happen that you get to work from wherever you want and be wherever you want to be and enjoy it along the way.

00:03:38.268 –> 00:03:48.268
Oh, for sure. I’m glad you touched on the clients because yes, that’s, It wasn’t always like this, obviously.

00:03:39.469 –> 00:03:41.469
Yeah.

00:03:46.168 –> 00:04:00.168
We learn as we go and we grow. But it is very important to me that clients understand our values, my values, but also the idea blossoms values, which kind of overlap a lot.

00:03:59.319 –> 00:04:09.319
Because yeah, it is like work does not come first. We love our work and we value it so much, we value the message, the podcast, the clients.

00:04:10.469 –> 00:04:22.469
But it’s about a balance, right? So we both have to respect that. Like we respect that time, but they also respect and value ours and it’s a really, really good relationship we have with our clients now.

00:04:22.419 –> 00:04:36.419
Yeah, and I can just feel from the way you post about your clients or the way you talk about them, I can feel that respect and that excitement to be in collaboration with them.

00:04:28.669 –> 00:04:46.669
And so reflecting that back to you that that really shines through. I love that it’s part of your decision-making and your operational sort of framework, but also.

00:04:48.068 –> 00:04:54.068
On the outside looking in, I can see that as someone who follows you on social media and that’s so, so important.

00:04:53.817 –> 00:04:56.817
Oh, that makes me happy. Thank you.

00:04:55.469 –> 00:05:02.469
Yeah. So what was the one decision or experience that changed the trajectory of your life?

00:05:03.118 –> 00:05:12.118
Well, the biggest one I would say so far. Has been leading my home country. I was born and raised in Brazil.

00:05:11.369 –> 00:05:24.369
I really like officially left not to travel to live abroad. And, 2017 and been living abroad since it’s been few countries now.

00:05:24.568 –> 00:05:33.568
And that changed everything. It was new country, new friends, new language and new career, which led into this career.

00:05:32.018 –> 00:05:41.018
That I have now. So yeah, it was pretty much. 1 80.

00:05:41.518 –> 00:05:46.518
Yeah, this is a bit off the cuff, but what were you doing before podcast management?

00:05:46.768 –> 00:05:54.768
I was, I majored in fashion design. And I was a fashion buyer.

00:05:53.768 –> 00:06:02.768
Okay, I love that. I feel like so many of my clients are so ambitious and experienced just like you.

00:05:56.719 –> 00:06:26.719
They are One wondering how to piece together, oh, well, I was a fashion buyer and now I’m a podcast manager slash agency owner and you know how I connect those dots and Somehow I feel like so many women feel guilty about it or ashamed about this past experience they have even though it colors how they view the world today, right?

00:06:10.719 –> 00:06:12.719
Hmm.

00:06:21.668 –> 00:06:28.668
Yeah. Yes.

00:06:24.869 –> 00:06:35.869
It, it allows you to bring in perspectives and relationships and experiences from other industries, other methodologies.

00:06:35.418 –> 00:06:45.418
So many other frameworks that I’m sure make your work better now, right? You know what you don’t like, you know what you do like.

00:06:42.819 –> 00:06:54.819
And I think that any lived experience, whether it was good or bad, makes us. So much richer and brings us so much, allows us to bring so much more to the table.

00:06:44.068 –> 00:06:46.068
Yeah.

00:06:50.618 –> 00:07:02.618
So love that little piece of your history that I didn’t know about. Yeah.

00:06:59.934 –> 00:07:11.934
Yeah, and I love what you said there because it was used to be one of my limiting beliefs like the biggest imposter syndrome is like I don’t have a business background.

00:07:10.935 –> 00:07:21.935
I don’t know what I’m doing. I don’t have a marketing background. And you know, I used to, you used to drag me down a lot until I finally realized, but.

00:07:21.169 –> 00:07:35.169
I have all of these. I have all this other baggage and this knowledge and this inclination to you know be creative but also be good with numbers because I was a fashion buyer so it was a bit a good mix of like creativity.

00:07:34.935 –> 00:07:45.935
With you know planning and Calculations and numbers and a lot of people, relating not really.

00:07:44.569 –> 00:08:03.569
People relationships like building relationships with clients, with suppliers. And like we take all of that for granted just because it’s not a degree into something that we think is more valued in the field that we work with, if that makes sense.

00:08:04.669 –> 00:08:12.669
And finally, I could get it over that and I’m like, okay, but if I didn’t, if I wasn’t a fashion designer before, I wouldn’t be able to do this and that.

00:08:10.818 –> 00:08:24.818
Yes, and you use the word inclination. That’s so powerful and overlooked are That instinct that tells us I can do this.

00:08:20.769 –> 00:08:39.769
I should do this. I’m meant to do this. I, I, it’s, this is worth trying, you know, the inclination to move abroad, the inclination to shift industries or try a new offer or whatever it is.

00:08:37.818 –> 00:08:49.818
That’s such a powerful but overlooked tool that we have. And so I just really love that that word specifically, inclination.

00:08:49.718 –> 00:09:00.718
Yeah, and now you’re an agency owner. You are surrounded by this amazing team. That you trust and a client roster that you are super proud of.

00:08:53.768 –> 00:08:55.768
Yeah.

00:09:00.768 –> 00:09:11.768
And I want to gush for a little bit about our 2 shared clients. And the first one we ever shared was Marty Statler.

00:09:06.968 –> 00:09:08.968
Of course.

00:09:10.318 –> 00:09:31.318
You connected me with her. She runs Rebel Queen and when she was launching the rebel maker podcaster with you and your team She came to me for intro, outro trailer scripting because that was a big bottleneck in your process with her in her mindset.

00:09:31.019 –> 00:09:42.019
It’s a sticking point for so many of us because it feels so important and evergreen and hard to boil down, you know, like, oh, I have this big idea for this show.

00:09:40.368 –> 00:10:09.368
How am I supposed to say it in 30 s? And she is such a dynamic entrepreneur and a feminist and a matriarch and a book publisher and a podcast host obviously now and in 2 quick win consulting calls with her we were able to Basically nailed down her intro, outro, and trailer that she had been stuck on for a very, very long time.

00:10:09.018 –> 00:10:23.018
And it was such a smooth and dynamic co-creation process. And so I’d love to know what other ways have you made the podcast launch process.

00:10:21.918 –> 00:10:32.918
Smoother for you and your clients and your team, you know, things like outsourcing a consultant for one tiny part of it.

00:10:33.918 –> 00:10:44.918
And that, you know, is a key to unlock a bunch of it or workflows or templates or like what sort of tools have you put in place to make the launch process easier?

00:10:43.918 –> 00:10:52.918
Well, we definitely have templates, that’s for sure, especially because I don’t know if you know this but this used to be a podcast launch VIP day.

00:10:52.868 –> 00:10:59.868
So we launched in one day. Yeah, so I had to do all the work in one day. So I had really templates for everything.

00:10:55.517 –> 00:10:57.517
I know.

00:10:57.818 –> 00:11:05.818
There was a clickup template with all the tasks we had to go through. And that would make things so much easier.

00:11:04.618 –> 00:11:11.618
There was like show notes template. There were. What else? A tracking sheet template.

00:11:10.969 –> 00:11:25.969
Email templates of things that I would have to email the clients to get feedback on so templates were big and then we moved into a more relaxed launch that was like a 5 day launch.

00:11:25.819 –> 00:11:40.819
Which I got really good feedback on because a lot of clients felt like a big of pressure launching in one day and it seemed like a lot to digest and process and then even give feedback was hard in like one day.

00:11:38.918 –> 00:11:50.918
So we moved into 5 days. I try to like learn from each client that we have, take feedback, think does this make sense, how Can we implement this?

00:11:48.318 –> 00:12:01.318
If it even because sometimes it’s hard to differentiate between like the feedback that makes sense for us as a team and for future clients.

00:12:00.618 –> 00:12:08.618
For the feedback that’s very, very customized that one client, very individual. But.

00:12:08.168 –> 00:12:16.168
We learn from each one of them and then we adapt and we grow and we change things. So yeah, the idea of.

00:12:14.718 –> 00:12:23.718
Bringing in partners to help certain parts that I didn’t feel like I was the best at. For example, I’m not a copywriter.

00:12:23.270 –> 00:12:42.270
I am not a message messaging expert far from it. So I didn’t feel that confident. Being that person for Marty for instance, like let me script an intro for you or let me hear you talk and then boil this down into this one message.

00:12:42.118 –> 00:12:50.118
And that was not just her. We had previous clients that struggled a lot in that intro and I was like, okay, enough is enough.

00:12:48.169 –> 00:12:56.169
Let’s find someone that can fix this problem like quick and easy. And I can’t remember, I think.

00:12:55.018 –> 00:13:08.018
I think it was actually a client that told me about you and then I reached out. And we did that one with Marty and I was like, yes, you like completely nailed her voice and her.

00:13:05.934 –> 00:13:07.934
Hmm.

00:13:07.169 –> 00:13:17.169
Personality, cause you know her. Big personality, right? And that was, that’s another thing that’s scared me.

00:13:10.568 –> 00:13:16.568
Is such a personality. I love it. Yeah. Yeah.

00:13:14.968 –> 00:13:29.968
Like, how can I bring this personality and turn it into 30 s intro? I know like the best practices but I don’t know how to work that magic and I am humble enough to own that and I’m like, but.

00:13:29.118 –> 00:13:37.118
I have the perfect person for you. And that’s when we really like got unstuck because she had to reschedule her lunch I believe.

00:13:33.367 –> 00:13:41.367
3 times because of that issue.

00:13:38.319 –> 00:13:48.319
Wow. Wow, I didn’t realize that that really did sort of turn the key to allowing her to launch.

00:13:45.519 –> 00:14:02.519
That’s so, so exciting. Actually she, she recently interviewed me by the time this episode is out it’ll be slightly less recent but I’ll link that in a show notes for her episode of the Revmaker podcast, cause that’s a really cool full, full circle moment.

00:13:53.819 –> 00:13:55.819
Oh, cool.

00:14:01.919 –> 00:14:24.919
And then I also want to rave about. Elena Mytruck who I connected you with and she is a life design mentor, coach, podcaster, speaker, mama, all the things and Yes, yes, and like corporate executive.

00:14:19.868 –> 00:14:22.868
And the executive on top of all that.

00:14:20.219 –> 00:14:48.219
Yeah, she is so, so impressive in every sense of the word. And, you now together produce and have completely rebranded her amazing now called Brevery Handbook podcast, which is obviously also linked in the show notes and on my end, Elena and I have done a brand messaging VIP day.

00:14:46.868 –> 00:14:58.868
To really hone in on her audience and messaging and vision and values and everything in between and She is so, so laser focused on what she’s building.

00:14:58.118 –> 00:15:15.118
With that outside perspective was necessary, right? From me, from you, from the Service writers and contractors that she builds around her she is not afraid to invest in herself and her business, which is so, so admirable.

00:15:00.218 –> 00:15:05.218
Yeah.

00:15:12.934 –> 00:15:21.934
It’s scary, right? And then the 3 of us have collaborated on a Not so specific.

00:15:16.667 –> 00:15:18.667
Yes.

00:15:19.769 –> 00:15:39.769
I won’t touch on it now. Get on both of our email list if you want to hear more details when it is like officially officially live but basically we worked on a project together that tied together messaging and and podcast growth and podcast growth goals into a single scope.

00:15:39.218 –> 00:15:49.218
And I’d love to know. How do you think about new offers in your business? You mentioned that your VIP day shifted to a longer launch.

00:15:44.218 –> 00:15:56.218
We have this project that is sort of in beta mode and may or may not see the light of day at whatever point.

00:15:56.218 –> 00:16:05.218
You have other offers for management and launching. How do you consider creating a new offer. What goes into it?

00:16:04.569 –> 00:16:15.569
Well, I’m a big fan of taking action. And learning for from experimenting. And that’s like last year was a lot about experimenting.

00:16:09.417 –> 00:16:11.417
Hmm.

00:16:10.819 –> 00:16:24.819
Like I had the idea and I would go with it instead of being in my head and over thinking, which is what I did for a long time, to be honest.

00:16:24.168 –> 00:16:33.168
And that overthinking usually doesn’t lead into anything productive, right? So I’m a big fan of just Take action.

00:16:32.119 –> 00:16:43.119
Try, experiment. Maybe it works. Maybe it doesn’t work quite the way you wanted to, but you always, always, always learn something.

00:16:34.768 –> 00:17:10.768
And like I said, from clients, I learned something. And sometimes that makes sense and it turns into an offer or it turns into add on or it turns into Another service and sometimes it’s just feedback that I keep in mind for future clients that I think have the same profile and I know I can approach differently, you always learn something and even if it is I don’t want to do this anymore you learn that now you know and you

00:17:08.968 –> 00:17:15.968
don’t have to think about that offer anymore. It’s out of your mind. It’s not occupying space in your mind.

00:17:12.318 –> 00:17:22.318
It’s not clutter in your mind anymore. So I’m a big fan of taking action, going in.

00:17:20.018 –> 00:17:25.018
Did it work? Yes, lovely. Can we move on with it? Can we make it better?

00:17:21.917 –> 00:17:32.917
Did not work as you expected. Awesome too. Now you can cross that off the list and move it to the next thing.

00:17:31.718 –> 00:17:48.718
Yeah, or in your case, maybe this is a som day offer when I have a team member who has this strength or when we have the bandwidth or my client load is full right now so love this offer but not the right time or whatever it is.

00:17:42.468 –> 00:17:58.468
I recently thought about some common threads between my clients and actually at my favorite collaborators too and it’s that We both are.

00:17:47.018 –> 00:17:49.018
Exactly.

00:17:58.017 –> 00:18:13.017
Deep Thinkers and action takers. So really intentional action but purposefully getting out of our heads because it’s so easy, especially I think as introverts to just be like on that loop in our brains.

00:18:10.568 –> 00:18:20.568
Oh, I could do this and this and this. Oh, but what about this? You know, just getting in our head and that is not the most generous thing to do.

00:18:11.068 –> 00:18:13.068
Yes, yes.

00:18:20.767 –> 00:18:35.767
It is so much more generous to Learn out loud, to try out loud. We are in this really privileged position as entrepreneurs and service providers especially to be able to get paid to experiment, right?

00:18:34.267 –> 00:18:50.267
Theoretically, if you know, if we have a buyer, a client, someone who’s willing to raise their hand and say, yes, I will invest my time or energy or ideally money into this idea that you have.

00:18:37.218 –> 00:18:39.218
Yes.

00:18:49.668 –> 00:18:58.668
Then we’re able to learn from it, grow from it, make it better for other people, make it better for ourselves, our team in your case.

00:18:53.418 –> 00:19:10.418
And it’s like such a wonderful reframe I think to oh well this could fail yeah but it could also be amazing or it could also be 80% there or whatever it is.

00:19:10.168 –> 00:19:19.168
And sometimes that 20% comes from that experience with that client that will give you so much insight and feedback.

00:19:16.418 –> 00:19:18.418
Hmm.

00:19:19.017 –> 00:19:24.017
And then you finally have that, you know, final. Offer.

00:19:21.569 –> 00:19:37.569
Yes. So, so far the collaborations we’ve talked about are in my wheelhouse being baked into a scope, which is like my favorite thing or added as a value add without needing to be part of my collaborators team.

00:19:36.068 –> 00:19:49.068
But you have built out an amazing team. And I know creating an agency model is both a big mystery and a big dream for lots of service providers.

00:19:49.368 –> 00:19:51.368
Yeah.

00:19:49.818 –> 00:20:01.818
So what was your path? To building out your team. And maybe even some roadblocks or big wins that came on that path if you’re if you’re willing to share.

00:20:00.967 –> 00:20:03.967
Oh, where do I even start?

00:20:03.568 –> 00:20:18.568
Well, for me, it started small. It started with one team member. And it all happened quite naturally as I became more experienced as I became booked out.

00:20:05.767 –> 00:20:07.767
Yeah.

00:20:18.269 –> 00:20:32.269
I quickly realized. We either continue like this with these. Certain clients this amount of clients or we have to start thinking about how Can we build capacity for more clients, right?

00:20:32.369 –> 00:20:44.369
And I just looked into the workflow. How many hours we’re going into what. What I was really good at, what I was not so good at and was taking me too much time or too much energy.

00:20:44.319 –> 00:21:07.319
So it all boiled down to The first thing I needed to outsource was definitely audio editing because of how much time it was taking from my weekly schedule and I knew like if I can only have this time back then I can build capacity for probably like double the clients right and it was a big toll on me because I’m such a perfectionist.

00:21:05.568 –> 00:21:16.568
I would spend hours and hours in one episode until it sounded absolutely perfect. And because it’s not my wheelhouse, I’m not a sound engineer.

00:21:15.818 –> 00:21:26.818
It would take me longer, right? Then cash hour in house audio engineer. He studied this thing so he can do it quick and easy and he probably sounds much better then.

00:21:25.718 –> 00:21:35.718
I would probably if I have to be honest with myself. So it all, like I said, it happened naturally.

00:21:31.017 –> 00:21:32.017
Yeah.

00:21:34.067 –> 00:21:41.067
I didn’t really hire anyone to teach me. I didn’t. Study too much about it.

00:21:39.718 –> 00:21:50.718
I was kind of like doing my own research as I went and kind of really Asking myself those questions, what would make more sense?

00:21:48.967 –> 00:21:58.967
How do you feel about this? What would this mean? How do you feel? I feel like sometimes we have the answers.

00:21:56.067 –> 00:22:05.067
We just don’t really ask. Ourselves those questions. We look outside, right? We look to the experts and that is great.

00:22:01.818 –> 00:22:14.818
I’m not gonna say anything bad about it, but check in with yourself first because maybe you already have an idea of how you can make that next move because it’s one next move.

00:22:13.768 –> 00:22:19.768
That leads to the other next move. You’re not going to turn it to an agency of 10.

00:22:19.168 –> 00:22:27.168
Within a few days, it’s gonna probably take time and planning. So just figuring out those steps.

00:22:26.917 –> 00:22:38.917
For that plan. That’s what I did. Like first I want to hire this person and then ideally like a year from now, I would love to have someone to oversee production and maybe someone to help with client work.

00:22:38.669 –> 00:22:50.669
So that’s how I really started planning and now we are an agency of 5, including me. So we have 2 content creators who help, you know, produce all the podcast content.

00:22:48.568 –> 00:22:56.568
We have the audio engineer that does all the editing for all the clients. And we have a manager.

00:22:56.768 –> 00:23:05.768
To manage all the clients, all the team members, all the files and all the due dates, all the click up tasks, there are many.

00:23:01.719 –> 00:23:08.719
So that’s now it looks like at a Dea Blossoms right now and I’m kind of like the head of content.

00:23:07.868 –> 00:23:17.868
I’m here to kind of oversee everything, give feedback, suggest ideas. Look at podcast reports to, you know, offer.

00:23:17.119 –> 00:23:28.119
Offer clients a more strategic point of view or you know ideas for growth ideas for conversion. It all depends on the client’s needs.

00:23:26.069 –> 00:23:33.069
So yeah, that’s in a nutshell. What we do, like how idea of awesome looks like, looks like now.

00:23:32.169 –> 00:23:42.169
Yeah, and how exciting that it could look different, right? And it could maybe scale down if you needed or wanted it to.

00:23:41.218 –> 00:23:53.218
It could scale up if you needed or wanted to. You have this flexibility because you are so introspective and open to feedback and willing to experiment.

00:23:44.818 –> 00:23:46.818
Yeah, absolutely.

00:23:48.319 –> 00:24:09.319
It bodes so well for being able to weather all those, you know, quote unquote market shifts, but also the lifestyle you want and your teams needs and your clients needs and It’s such a beautiful.

00:24:07.570 –> 00:24:20.570
I wish it was so, you made it seem so seamless and easy to build an agency and you know scale up from being solopreneur to now you know running an agency.

00:24:18.219 –> 00:24:29.219
I’m sure there were bumps along the way, but it sounds so liberating. So many ways the way you just described it.

00:24:28.518 –> 00:24:42.518
Yes, there are bumps and it’s something that I actually learned with a mentor who is also a therapist and I love mentors that are therapists because there’s so much to the human mind that Obviously.

00:24:39.018 –> 00:24:45.018
Impacts the way you do business, the way you do life, the way you do anything, right?

00:24:44.319 –> 00:24:52.319
And she explains, took place. She explained to me this concept of like expansion and contraction.

00:24:52.119 –> 00:25:06.119
And basically anytime you expand naturally, usually there is a contraction that happens next. And after I learned that, I was like, oh, that makes so much sense.

00:24:53.467 –> 00:24:55.467
Hmm.

00:25:04.768 –> 00:25:16.768
All that struggle and like looking back the years now because I told this story and it seems like it was quick but we started idea of awesome in 2020 Right before the pandemic.

00:25:16.869 –> 00:25:24.869
And we only became 5 last year. So it was very gradual. Like I said, one step at a time.

00:25:20.933 –> 00:25:27.933
And then every time we grew.

00:25:22.269 –> 00:25:24.269
Okay.

00:25:28.268 –> 00:25:41.268
Next thing I would notice this contraction, I would notice I would notice this struggle. Either with mindset either with budget, either it would be something, right?

00:25:34.934 –> 00:25:49.934
And I would call them growing pains, which kind of makes sense, right? And then after she explained that, you know, natural expansion contraction.

00:25:49.218 –> 00:25:59.218
Now I can prepare myself better. And now we are in a growth period. So I’m like, okay, let’s see what’s what can be improved.

00:25:56.934 –> 00:26:05.934
Let’s see how we can make this a little bit more smooth because Something is going to come. I know it’s gonna come.

00:26:05.319 –> 00:26:12.319
So I’m I wanna be prepared and I wanna be like in the right mindset because it would hit me hard.

00:26:10.218 –> 00:26:16.218
It would be like, oh my gosh, I did everything right. I grew so much. Why? Why is this happening now?

00:26:15.319 –> 00:26:23.319
But it was natural. Of course it’s happening now because of all the things we did, all the grocery experience.

00:26:19.568 –> 00:26:34.568
Like things that were working before. We’re actually not working anymore. We needed to. You know, start thinking about how to accommodate this new rel, reality.

00:26:33.569 –> 00:26:46.569
Yeah, that’s such a powerful shift in that. You know. It’s great confidence building of I did it once I can do it again.

00:26:45.219 –> 00:26:59.219
Someone else did this. It’s possible for me to. That’s great. But then also when you do, you know, quote unquote level up or when you hit that next phase of evolution in your business, in your life.

00:26:57.868 –> 00:27:05.868
Of course, things will change. That is the nature of business. That is the nature of being a human.

00:27:05.168 –> 00:27:23.168
And it is. Such a powerful tool to have in your toolbox to approach that with wonder and curiosity and openness and flexibility rather than, you know, that victim mindset of.

00:27:22.069 –> 00:27:31.069
Oh, well, why me? I followed all the advice or this worked 50 times before. Why is the 50 first time not working?

00:27:26.719 –> 00:27:44.719
And it sounds like you have some sort of either inherent skill in this or mechanisms in place to constantly be evaluating.

00:27:31.368 –> 00:27:33.368
Yeah.

00:27:41.918 –> 00:28:00.918
I think that’s something that so many of us, you don’t know how to do or simply have an exercised that muscle well enough or or we’re just too close to it and we don’t invest in that outside perspective we need someone who can look at the data or someone who can ask us the tough questions.

00:27:51.868 –> 00:27:53.868
Yeah.

00:28:02.868 –> 00:28:08.868
So I think that is a huge testament to the success that you have had and felt thus far.

00:28:07.518 –> 00:28:19.518
Yes, absolutely. Sometimes we do need, someone from outside to Just like. Open this new window, right?

00:28:17.169 –> 00:28:27.169
Like, and give you a completely different perspective that you wouldn’t have otherwise. And sometimes that’s all he needs to like.

00:28:28.568 –> 00:28:31.568
Unlock something in your brain and get you moving again.

00:28:30.668 –> 00:28:38.668
Yeah, or even hold up that mirror, right? You know, maybe we were looking out the window and all we need to do is look at our own reflection, whatever it is.

00:28:37.519 –> 00:28:49.519
Yeah. So obviously if anyone has ever listened to the podcast before or follows me anywhere on the internet, you know, values is core to everything I do.

00:28:38.268 –> 00:28:40.268
Yeah.

00:28:45.569 –> 00:29:04.569
And the idea of respect, I don’t know if that’s one of your core values or not, but the idea of respect or sort of that mutuality, that common understanding that that life first business has already shined through in this interview alone.

00:29:03.619 –> 00:29:18.619
I’d love to know what are some of your guiding values and how have they sparked action in your business, especially as you build out your team, which can both add to and or dilute your values at the same time.

00:29:13.718 –> 00:29:22.718
So yeah, what are some of your guiding values and how they sparked action?

00:29:18.867 –> 00:29:20.867
Sure. Yeah.

00:29:22.268 –> 00:29:31.268
Hmm, great question. I like that. Well, definitely respect and kindness and we use that to hire team members.

00:29:30.168 –> 00:29:38.168
We use that to accept or not a new client. That is For me, it’s not even an optional.

00:29:36.418 –> 00:29:48.418
It’s just however human being should be, but sometimes it’s not the case. It’s very important that every team member, every client and myself, if you respect it, we feel valued.

00:29:48.068 –> 00:30:01.068
And we treated with kindness because why not, right? Yeah, that’s the first thing. But we’re also very big on freedom, which I already touched on in the beginning here.

00:29:59.019 –> 00:30:09.019
That’s why we started the business. That’s what I keep. That’s probably. The value that helps me make decisions the most.

00:30:08.268 –> 00:30:26.268
Like does this make sense or am I gonna lose a little bit of the freedom that is so precious to me and the reason the why behind all this like if the reason if the why is not being respected then why are we doing this So freedom is a big one.

00:30:10.068 –> 00:30:12.068
Hmm.

00:30:26.618 –> 00:30:32.618
Freedom, kindness, respect. And the other 2 that I have are in parliament and social impact.

00:30:31.968 –> 00:30:45.968
So we do try to give back with our with our operations, with our business. We have a little like partnership with B one G one.

00:30:43.669 –> 00:30:50.669
I don’t know if you heard about them. I try to speak of them anytime I can, cause they are doing amazing work.

00:30:49.719 –> 00:31:06.719
It’s really, yes, they are great because it allows small businesses to make big impacts. And I know that sometimes it feels like we cannot change the world and we can’t, but we can make small impacts that will have big ripple effects, right?

00:30:51.868 –> 00:30:55.868
Yeah, I’ll link them to notes.

00:31:06.369 –> 00:31:15.369
So they allow businesses to kind of like attach. Business milestones or sales to a contribution to society.

00:31:13.768 –> 00:31:22.768
For example, when a new client comes in, you can plant 20 trees in India to, you know.

00:31:22.318 –> 00:31:32.318
In a village or something. I’m not going to remember ours from the top of my head, but we have a few in Vietnam because I lived there and I’m I love love that country.

00:31:32.269 –> 00:31:39.269
We have a few in India. I’m waiting for one in Brazil to pop up. There’s none in Brazil that I can help yet.

00:31:39.369 –> 00:31:48.369
But I like how they make it easy, right? There is a way that you can set up like When this happens, this happens and then you can log in and you can make your contribution.

00:31:47.718 –> 00:31:57.718
According to what happened that week. So that is very important to me that we give back and I try to share that with clients too so they feel proud, right?

00:31:56.269 –> 00:32:09.269
Like my podcast is making a difference and I can see that because Rosea just told me that we planted 23 East in India or that 40 meals were given to students in Kenya.

00:32:08.769 –> 00:32:15.769
So you are making a difference. It’s a fact. That’s how social impact is important to us.

00:32:15.119 –> 00:32:26.119
And I also mentioned empowerment. I mean, we work with pretty badass women. We are empowering other women and people sometimes, not just women.

00:32:26.618 –> 00:32:33.618
So that is very important to us. Like the mission behind the podcast, how are they empowering?

00:32:31.721 –> 00:32:40.721
How are they sharing? Their knowledge, their expertise. And also the way we build the team. I try to.

00:32:39.469 –> 00:32:59.469
Be more open-minded about experience levels or degrees or anything like that. I am very passionate about giving opportunity to people that probably didn’t have or lack of a better word, a fair chance in life yet.

00:32:58.418 –> 00:33:07.418
Because I can train them. I have all the materials. I have the videos. I mean, you don’t have to have a marketing degree to come work with us.

00:33:07.418 –> 00:33:16.418
We can train you and we can empower you to do this thing, to have time freedom, location freedom like I do now.

00:33:16.169 –> 00:33:22.169
So that is the final value. I hope I didn’t take 45 min to say all of this.

00:33:20.219 –> 00:33:32.219
No, that was so Perfectly articulated both what the values are, what they mean to you, and how they have manifested as actions in your business.

00:33:31.934 –> 00:33:49.934
And I also think it’s really important that last point you made of bringing people into the fold who don’t necessarily quote unquote fit the job description, they fit the values alignment, they fit the personality type, they fit what you need them to do.

00:33:46.219 –> 00:33:48.219
Yeah.

00:33:48.868 –> 00:34:00.868
I have a whole podcast episode inside me somewhere about soft skills and how I hate that word and how it is like so essential to just being a human in the world.

00:33:56.368 –> 00:34:12.368
Is having these soft skills. And that is exactly what your people are bringing to the table. You know, maybe they are sound engineer like the person you referenced on your team, but Maybe they are not.

00:34:01.168 –> 00:34:03.168
Yes.

00:34:09.869 –> 00:34:26.869
Maybe they are willing and kind and open and want freedom and care about making an impact. And to me, that seems like a much better investment and search tool.

00:34:22.068 –> 00:34:34.068
Then, you know, did they check this box at this, university or with this certification program?

00:34:34.418 –> 00:34:36.418
Yeah.

00:34:35.921 –> 00:34:48.921
So given your expertise in podcasting and or your newfound expertise in team building, what tactical tip do you have for fellow business leaders?

00:34:49.118 –> 00:34:55.118
All business. All business leaders? Tough question.

00:34:53.937 –> 00:35:11.937
Yeah, anyone who identifies as a business owner or a leader in their own right or someone who wants to make an impact through the meaningful work or content that they are creating, what sort of tools, tactical tips do you have for them to either do it through podcasting or through team building or both.

00:35:11.369 –> 00:35:25.369
I think we just talked about it, right? Leaning in many more, I guess, cause a lot of them already do this, but leaning into your values and to your why, because that’s what’s going to help you make decisions.

00:35:22.318 –> 00:35:33.318
There are crucial to the business. Yeah, I would start there because

00:35:23.568 –> 00:35:25.568
Yeah.

00:35:32.519 –> 00:35:50.519
You won’t cover a lot when you uncover your values when you cover your It motivates you, it inspires you, it again helps you make decisions because sometimes they are hard decisions to make and You’re so torn, but then if you have this value here.

00:35:49.668 –> 00:35:58.668
It’s like, oh, okay, if you look at that, with that lens on, then it should be a yes or it should be a no.

00:35:58.119 –> 00:36:06.119
So I think that gives you more clarity, I guess, in confidence because confidence is. The whole other conversation.

00:36:05.119 –> 00:36:18.119
It’s probably an entire conversation we can have. Yeah, it’s hard, right? Entrepreneurship and sometimes you don’t feel confident sometimes it’s hard to make those decisions so having that clear why and clear values.

00:36:18.568 –> 00:36:20.568
Will definitely help.

00:36:21.718 –> 00:36:29.718
Oh, you are speaking. My language. I feel like you just like pull the slide from a workshop I have about values, values aligned decision making.

00:36:29.769 –> 00:36:42.769
Yeah, that we plan. Yeah, and literally I would say 85% or more of my client testimonials come back with the words.

00:36:31.918 –> 00:36:36.918
We talked and we talked behind scenes before this.

00:36:40.668 –> 00:36:51.668
Either clarity and or confidence. And that is what value is you. Yeah, yeah, like that is absolutely what values does for you and your business.

00:36:45.517 –> 00:36:47.517
No way.

00:36:46.568 –> 00:37:00.568
So I love that that is your tip too because it’s such a powerful and overlooked mechanism that we have at our disposal.

00:36:53.968 –> 00:37:07.968
That each of us has inherently as long as we take the time to, as you said, uncover it.

00:37:04.519 –> 00:37:06.519
Yeah.

00:37:08.619 –> 00:37:17.619
So yeah, perfect. Thank you so much for that tip. And along those lines, what is the biggest lesson you learned as an entrepreneur?

00:37:12.218 –> 00:37:14.218
Well, you’re welcome.

00:37:19.068 –> 00:37:28.068
I think the biggest one was embracing the The ups and downs, embracing the journey.

00:37:27.620 –> 00:37:59.620
The challenges, the winds, everything. And trusting. Because there are the ups and downs they exist it’s not all the way up it’s not linear the growth is never linear is it so embracing that letting go of control which is hard and trusting trusting me first my gut my experience my knowledge Trusting also that I am I am on the right path And I’m behind.

00:37:57.118 –> 00:38:09.118
I’m not too late. It’s all gonna work out. Because it is easy to get carried away with those feelings and that’s when your judgment gets cloudy that’s when we make decisions out of fear.

00:38:06.768 –> 00:38:16.768
Which is not where you want to make be making decisions, especially for a business. So just embracing.

00:38:16.368 –> 00:38:25.368
Embracing the ups and downs, letting go of control. Not completely, but. The things you cannot control and you shouldn’t try to control Lego.

00:38:24.918 –> 00:38:32.918
And finally, trust. Special yourself. If you are the entrepreneur, you are the head of the business if you don’t trust yourself.

00:38:33.769 –> 00:38:38.769
Something’s wrong and it’s gonna be a little more challenging.

00:38:39.018 –> 00:38:48.018
Yes, yes, those decisions as CEOs of our business, of our life, of our household, of wherever we show up.

00:38:47.319 –> 00:38:59.319
Decision making is our main role for better or worse and so being able to build trust in ourselves and the people around us is so so essential.

00:38:54.618 –> 00:38:56.618
Yeah.

00:38:59.118 –> 00:39:09.118
Do any final advice for women who want to take confident meaningful action in their life in their business.

00:39:08.218 –> 00:39:13.218
Anything that sums up or anything that we have missed in this episode.

00:39:12.918 –> 00:39:22.918
Well, this is something I talk a lot, especially with my clients. I’m say here, I think have Fun?

00:39:22.468 –> 00:39:27.468
Try to have fun. It doesn’t have to be so serious.

00:39:27.469 –> 00:39:37.469
That’s actually a recurring theme, amongst the guests on my podcast is injecting more fun, more play into our work.

00:39:33.518 –> 00:39:37.518
Awesome. Hmm.

00:39:34.618 –> 00:39:44.618
It makes it makes life so much more colorful and it gives so much more meaning to our work. So yes, thank you for ending on that note.

00:39:45.318 –> 00:39:56.318
If people are loving what you’re saying around your values and how you build out your team and the way you view podcasting, how can they connect with you?

00:39:56.319 –> 00:40:10.319
First place to go is my website, idea blossoms.com. There you find everything you find or LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, I’m not there anymore, so don’t reach out on Facebook, please guys.

00:40:08.618 –> 00:40:11.618
Okay.

00:40:08.936 –> 00:40:15.936
I see a message like a month later, cause I just don’t use it anymore and it was never a thing.

00:40:13.068 –> 00:40:15.068
Okay.

00:40:15.069 –> 00:40:26.069
It was when I first started because they were like business pages were big, right, and reviews. But now we’ve moved into first the website of course that’s the hub.

00:40:24.935 –> 00:40:35.935
Everything lives there our services, our resources. And then Instagram or LinkedIn, that’s where we share content, mostly on LinkedIn now.

00:40:34.069 –> 00:40:41.069
I’m really enjoying LinkedIn lately and that’s where we’ve been sharing, networking, connecting.

00:40:40.419 –> 00:40:47.419
And yeah, I think that’s the best place to go. Just go to idea blossoms.

00:40:46.769 –> 00:40:48.769
Dot com and you’ll find everything you need there.

00:40:47.769 –> 00:40:52.769
Awesome. It’s linked in the show notes as well as LinkedIn and Instagram.

00:40:50.869 –> 00:40:56.869
Rosa, thank you so, so much for sharing your insight, for experimenting a little bit with the format.

00:40:56.168 –> 00:41:03.168
