Connecting with real humans

I was emailing back and forth with a business friend—a serial, SUCCESSFUL entrepreneur.

And I noticed that she’d leaned into the “overthinking” angle in her content. That immediately resonated with me and I know it resonates with so many people in my orbit too.

(If you’ve noticed, I’ve done the same recently, especially with Peer Pods. I might double down on the deep thinking/overthinking with the podcast too…let me know your thoughts.)

In our exchange, she said:

Now, we could talk about niching until we’re blue in the face.

(Disclaimer: I have a cobbler’s shoes situation here…I still don’t “have a niche” by most definitions.)

And if we’re honest with ourselves, almost all of us could (should?) revisit our audience personas through a lens of up-to-date data, real conversations, and deeper empathy.

This is your reminder to do all of the above.

(Psst: I have a guided template for that.)

This is also your reminder to experiment with little tweaks to your messaging. You don’t necessarily need to overhaul it all.

Be thoughtful, but don’t overthink it. (Ironic, I know.)

Maybe changing from “maker” to “overthinker” is the exact shift you need for all your copy, content, and conversations to finally click. And to finally “convert.” (In quotes because I don’t love the transactional connotation of conversion rates. But there’s something to be said for your perfect-fit people feeling seen and heard and understood enough to book a call, buy a product, become a client, join your membership, etc.)

Whatever pivot you take, the constant goal is to connect with real humans so they know exactly what you have and why it matters to you both.

As always, if you want empathetic accountability as you get your big ideas out of your head and heart and into the real world, let’s chat about how we can do it together.
