Some Quotes On Confidence

Good vibes and momentum-generating insight

I’m a collector of quotes. Always have been. (I mean…I love words, that’s no secret.) But the quotes I carefully curate rarely see the light of day.

Then I read this quote about confidence in a newsletter a while back:

“Confidence has to be built from within. If you build it on compliments, it will be broken on criticism.” — Eunice Ajim

And I was inspired to gather up some other confidence-related wisdom for some good vibes and momentum-generating insight. Because as CEO of your business and your life, you need to feel rooted in your values and propelled by your purpose. Aka confident.

1️⃣ ”Your job, throughout your entire life, is to disappoint as many people as it takes to avoid disappointing yourself.” — Glennon Doyle, Untamed

2️⃣ ”It’s through action that we recognize we can survive the awkward moments, we can survive the uncomfortable parts of holding our ground and setting boundaries, and we can survive not being the savior.” — Yasmine Cheyenne, The Sugar Jar

3️⃣ ”Other people’s opinions only matter to the extent that we believe them or worry that they are true.” — Kara Lowentheil (quoted via a workshop with Lindsay White)

4️⃣ ”You won’t always get what you strive for, but you will definitely get what you settle for. You won’t magically outperform your standards.” — James Clear

5️⃣ ”Action is the antidote to despair.” — Joan Baez

6️⃣ ”Celebration can rescue your day—even if it is someone else’s victory. Envy will ruin your day—even if you’re actually winning.” — James Clear (Honestly, I had tons of quotes from him, so only listing 2 took some restraint. 🙃 Here are more of my thoughts on celebrating milestones on your own terms.)

All that to say, knowing who you are and what you stand for (even if that changes as you evolve!), makes it so that you can feel good about what you’re doing and where you’re going.

And your values are the best insight and gut check and toolbox to get that kind of clarity.

✨ Listen to Episode 63 for tips on introducing yourself with confidence (including elevator pitch frameworks and examples).

✨ For your inner DIY-er, grab a copy of the Live Out Your Brand Values Guided Workbook. It’s a super deep dive into how to establish, define, and actively apply your values so that you can take confident, meaningful action in your life and in your business. (Although you already know, I’m a huge fan of outside perspective for anything deeply reflective, like your core values.)

And when in doubt, laugh a little. Take a breath. Commiserate with people who get it. Then move on to whatever feels like the best next step.

(The memes in this comment section are 👌👌👌. Even if you’re not a parent or don’t have littles in your life, exchange “parenting” with “entrepreneurship” and it’s amazing how relevant they still are.)

Carry on with your important work. I promise it matters. And if you don’t want to do it alone, book a free Alignment Call to chat about how we can collaborate.
