Tactics vs strategy? Do this part first. Always.

When your marketing isn’t working, it might be your tactics.

Where you’re posting. When you’re posting. Who you’re tagging. What you’re linking to. Whatever.

But it’s more likely the strategy behind your marketing that’s missing the mark.

So many businesses start their marketing upstream with the blog posts or social content or paid ads. Without anything that ties all that time and energy and money and visibility back to their brand strategy. Aka what they want to stand for and who they want to connect with.

When we take care of the foundational elements first (with intention, focusing on values and audience overlap), it’s makes all future decisions and deliverables so much easier and more effective.

Then we gain traction and drive traffic—or even go viral, as Devin describes here—in alignment with our business goals and our brand values. Our campaigns and content and copy and conversations don’t fall flat or detract from the reason we’re marketing to begin with. Instead, they build on top of each other, creating an orbit of influence and a network of real relationships.

Essentially, messaging-first output leads to a thriving business.

Let’s talk about how well your marketing output and public perception match your messaging input and intentions as a business owner. Together, we can shift, double down, and dig into the nuance in between.
