Your Proverbial Brand Cake

A while back, I did an IG Live with Robyn of Echo and Scribe to chat all things copy, messaging, and purposeful business. (She’s awesome—check out her personality-packed copywriting services and resources.)

We went on this unexpected metaphor riff about your brand as a cake. And it’s stuck with me. (What can I say? I love a good cake AND a good visual to make big, nebulous concepts like “branding” and “business building” more concrete…)

Basically, your brand—just like anything you bake—has a unique recipe.

The quality and amount of ingredients (your offers, your frameworks, your personality, your values, your past experiences, etc.) are different than your neighbor’s.

And while so many of us of are offering cake (aka graphic design or systems optimization or life coaching or whatever else), everything is dependent on your—and your customers’—flavor and dietary preferences. Even the way you decorate your cake (your brand colors and fonts, your brand voice, etc.) makes a difference.

And of course, you tweak the recipe (your brand, your offer suite, your ideal audience, etc.) over time. Because along the way, you get feedback. And you learn tips and tricks. And your tastes evolve.

So it’s important to know where you stand, where you’re headed, and how to communicate all of the above with your perfect-fit people.

And if that’s a bit of a struggle for you (or you’re feeling really good about your “cake recipe” and you want an expert opinion to tell you their thoughts…), then join me for a free About You Audit on Jan 10.

You bring your bio, About Page, social profile, or whatever you’re working on that tells people who you are and what you do. I bring my honest first-impressions-feedback in a room full of conscious and caring leaders.

Hop in live or pre-submit something for me to review. Either way, I’ll send my recorded thoughts on what’s working great and what could be better.
